Charlie Bear - Culturally significant

No doubt most of us are not particularly happy with the new logo that has been designed for the London 2012 Olympics which, we understand, cost a lot of money. The logo itself does not open itself up to be used and abused for representing the country that is hosting the event, nor does it contain any cultural codes that can assist in making it memorable and significant to those living in the United Kingdom. So we decided that maybe it was worth putting forward an unofficial logo, namely the teddy bear, which does need reviving and is a toy for most children (and probably was for adults) in this country.
We also thought that rather than a logo being exploited purely for making money, it should have a purpose, especially when we consider that we in this country want to encourage sport amongst our young and discourage obesity. So with this bear, we would like to see most of the money that is made from its exploitation going into a fund that can pay for tickets which can be given freely to children (to be accompanied by a parent) from this country, through sports incentives at school. In that way we hope that a future generation of sports persons will materialise.
Obviously Charlie bear, a tatty old teddy bear seems an unlikely challenger for the corporate majesty of the other, but with your help, no matter if you are citizens, politicians, business people or sports stars, we can give Charlie a voice. Lets give the London Olympics something that has history and a sense of identity. This is a grass roots campaign - lets get the little bear on top and give back to those who would most benefit from the Olympics, namely the people that live on these islands.
